Wild Card Weekend: Games, Scores, and MVPs

Updated: May 8, 2018

Okay, so now we've eliminated TWENTY teams from the NFL, so you're definitely gonna see some action-packed football being played throughout these couple games. After a LONG wait, the weekend has begun, and YES, the Wild Card games are gonna be played. Over the course of January 6th and January 7th, we experience 4 games: Titans vs Chiefs, Falcons vs Rams, Bills vs Jaguars, and Panthers vs Saints. Let's get on with our pretty short overview.

Game 1: Tennessee Titans vs Kansas City Chiefs

Score: 22-21

Titans MVP: Marcus Mariota, QB

Chiefs MVP: Alex Smith, QB

Game 2: Atlanta Falcons vs Los Angeles Rams

Score: 26-13

Falcons MVP: Julio Jones, WR

Rams MVP: Jared Goff, QB

Game 3: Buffalo Bills vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Score: 3-10

Bills MVP: Steven Hauschka, K

Jaguars MVP: Blake Bortles, QB

Game 4: Carolina Panthers vs New Orleans Saints

Score: 26-31

Panthers MVP: Cam Newton, QB

Saints MVP: Drew Brees, QB

Whew. Even though it seems pretty short because we're writing it on one tiny little post, trust us, if you haven't watched all of these games, you should've. It was definitely more exciting than what you think it is. Props to Marcus Mariota for his stellar performance against a strong Chiefs defense. We mean, he freaking threw a touchdown to HIMSELF. Now, that's pretty absurd, but that might not get him the Wild Card MVP. In the end, congrats to the Chiefs, Rams, Bills, and Panthers for coming this far, like 20 teams couldn't do THAT, and hopefully you'll get 'em next time. But, the Wild Card MVP is . . .

Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints.

Drew Brees played phenomenally against their rivals, the Carolina Panthers, in order to beat them for the THIRD time this year. He threw for 376 yards, which is the most for any QB in the Wild Card this year. He also bulleted two touchdowns, which is pretty good considering they were versing a competitive divisional rival. Furthermore, he handed it off to Alvin Kamara for 23 yards, and even had a block in one of the runs! In the end, Brees played like a pro, and he'll be moving on to the divisional next week. Stay tuned!
